    Maximum Speeds

Last week I discovered a road that my friends and I now call "Bonneville Jr.". It's an almost unused stretch of road with a level straight that is several miles long, a surface that is as smooth as glass -- and wide sight lines on both sides. All in all, a prudent place to, umm, stretch a 911's legs a bit.

I took my '74 Euro Carrera there for a spin the other day and hit a top speed of 155 MPH. Things were moving by pretty quickly, but the car was nicely hunkered down and felt stable. The tach was at 6,200 (7,300 redline) but I could really feel the wind resistance at that speed and things seemed pretty well bogged down.

I'd be interested in hearing what experiences others here have had with maximum speeds.

    Cheers,
    John
