If the D shape head rests are original to these seats, they are for a 1969-1971 car.

But don’t you think these were re-upholstered?
Jesse, you are incorrect. Cars delivered from the factory in full leather with sport seats had D-shape sport seat head rests 69-73. Only cars starting in 72 with vinyl or mixed vinyl/velour or vinyl/pepita had the non D-shaped, oval headrests. This is according to Tony at Autobahn and I can confirm that as I own an all 100% original, concour, 36,000mile 73 911E in black on black, 100% perfect with all original paint, with full leather and sport seats and it has D-shaped headrests and I have photos and full history since the day it was picked up at the factory in Germany by an air force pilot (original owner) in 1973 brand new and even on photos at the factory you can see it's D-shaped headrests.
I just acquired a pair of funky original 73 Leather sport seats and they have D headrests. I was thinking it had to do with the leather. They are available if someone needs them.
