Special early 1964 features on 1965 cars

And 301022 has engine number 900326 as per Kardex - obviously they had a few problem engines that were set aside for rectification.

interesting that your 'older' engine also has an early number. Is it the old cast or does it have casting dates? Do you know whether you also have the thin 1964 engine covers, or the more sturdy 1965 versions with the cooling ribs at even heights?

No casting dates on the engine from memory (I'm not with the car right now) Rocker covers were gone so I managed to get a set of the early thin rocker covers assuming these to be correct for that date of engine so not any help for verification purposes.

301382 also has them. What other method is there for securing the rear of the trunk carpet?

Not sure to be honest, ive looked pretty thoroughly now and there is no evidence my car has had them, no other ways of mounting that I can see. Always possible that the scuttle panel has been changed/repaired of course. But seems there are other early cars without carpet tangs.

I just scanned through my files of dozens of cars ranging from 250-2000+ and all have them, also my 912 from April 1965. I would guess yours must have had them as well.
Do you have these board fits?

Dont have board tang fits and have luggage hooks on the sides/inner wings.

Yes, our records show the range of cars with the luggage hooks starts after 661 but before 700 (mid March) and ends after 1341 but before 1379 (May).
