By the time I got to the 1999 Vasek Polak race shop 'garage sale' I saw a stack of about 20 alloy door skins nested together like 'Pringle' chips... Who knows how big the stack was when the sale started...Are there any original aluminum doors or door skins available anywhere?
They were going fast....![]()
I might have a photo somewhere....
I can't help thinking not all were put on cars...it was only 21 years ago...
Cheers,

Please post a pic or 2 or a 72 ST with fender damage showing it is made of FG...I've shown both the Toad Hall and Monte STs with pic proof they are steel....then I will consider your position as partially valid. Non factory/privateer and those built earlier than the 72 MY STs don't help the case.![]()

Your missing the point, we are discussing the factory picture not the Monte cars. You can't possibly know what fenders are on all of the ST cars of any era. Any homologation item can be put on any ST or even an RSR if the owner wanted. You have tried and failed to convince me and most posters since that the fender in the picture is steel. We have discussed the headlight bucket, door missing, Lead loading, fender distortion. Let's leave it there as this is supposed to be an informative thread.
I bow to your superior ST knowledge.![]()

Ok, so you believe the Toad Hall ST had an accident before the LeMans race which resulted in a steel fender being put on to replace an original FG right fender...even though the left fender was FG? Do you think they would have done that? Or maybe the whole front of the car was damaged so that both fenders needed replacing....but there are no pics on the internet that I have ever found that show the Toad Hall car involved in a major accident to the front of the car.
Also, when the Toad Hall car was restored by Porsche Classic over 2.5 yrs, they put steel fenders on based on advice from experts from the day, including Jurgan Barth.
Paul Frere mentions in his 911 Story book that for 72 the ST extensions were steel. Just sayin'.....![]()

Your memory is very poor. i said in my opinion the fender on the car in the factory picture is GRP. Please show me where i said it was on the finished car. ?
Gib, move on this is all speculation, we will never know for sure.: You truly are the ST master.![]()
