If so, the reason for not showing engine pics could be that the engine has been modified/replaced. I talked to the former mechanic of #0224 on the phone just last week.
He said he remembers that the car has been converted to a race car sometime in the past (before being in the possession of his client) and as far as he remembers the engine on the car back then was a 3.0l...

I don't know. Possible. The color code of 224 is matching this car. If you want to be sure, call the garage…

According to the authoritative work shown in the Carrera RS book by Dr. Thomas Gruber and Dr. Georg Konradsheim, this stunning 911 is just one of 245 Carrera RS examples delivered new to Italy and just one of 42 examples finished in the factory color of Bahia Red. The Carrera RS book also records the car's original equipment, including sport seats left and right that were upholstered in black leatherette with corduroy inserts, and a limited-slip differential. As chassis 574, this RS is relatively early in the second series of production. The second-series examples, very similar to the first series, retain the thin-gauge sheet metal and other lightweight features that were eschewed on the later third-series cars.

After its time in Italy, this RS made its way to Japan, where it remained until it was imported by Symbolic Motorcars of La Jolla, California by 2011, and sold that same year. One of the previous owners completed a bare-metal repaint in the correct single-stage Bahia Red paint. This work was conducted by Custom Cars Unlimited, a Chicago-based firm that has prepared cars for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. During this process, the car was stripped, and the body was reported to be in excellent condition. The car has since remained well-cared-for with the last two previous owners' collections and in a climate-controlled facility. This Porsche RS has been maintained and serviced by Continental Ferrari, Napleton Westmont Porsche, Porsche of Monterey, and Olsen Motorsports, which carried out a full engine-out service and rebuild. The current owner has done two rallies (Ramshorn Rally and Going To The Sun Vintage Car Rally) in 2019 and has driven over 2,000 miles with no issues.

European Collectibles has recently removed the complete driveline to do a complete concours undercarriage detail to factory specification. All the suspension and the brake components have been CAD plated, powder-coated, and/or painted. The original Fuch alloy wheels have been refinished in the correct RS finish with new PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 N4 185/70 VR15 on the front and 215/60 VR15 on the rear. The factory sport seats have also been reupholstered in black leatherette with corduroy inserts.

The paintwork is in remarkable condition and has excellent gaps throughout with pristine chrome, glass, and exterior trim. Factory sport seats, VDO instrumentation, dash, knee guard, carpets, and headliner show extremely well with very little wear. Mechanically, the matching 2.7L Flat-Six engine runs perfectly with its manual 5-speed 915 gearbox, which shifts effortlessly through all gears.

This RS is accompanied by books, tools, and service records and its matching-number engine per its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. This desirable second-series RS 2.7 Touring would make a fantastic addition to any collection, as an exceptionally versatile and rewarding sports car. It promises both visceral performance and acclaim at marque gatherings, in addition to being one of the most revered and imitated Porsches ever built.

Price wise it could be a genuine M471; rear quarter windows are at least Glaverbel thin gauge. Then it is either 261 or 284. Last one is currently in the US so that leaves only 0261.

We are delighted to offer for sale this concours winning, matching numbers 1973 Porsche 2.7 Carrera RS (M472) Touring with chassis nr 911 360 0671.

The 1973 Carrera RS is an archetype collectible and iconic 911 - and a terrific driving car. The 2687cc RS was the homologation base for the racing 2806cc RSR, for which the FIA required 500 street cars to be built. Although the Porsche Marketing Department said they couldn't sell 500 cars, management forced the issue. The first 500 cars sold out within a week of the Carrera RS introduction in Paris during October of 1972.

In the end, 1525 Carrera RSs were built in three variants: 1308 Tourings, 200 Lightweights and 17 RSHs (cars not fully converted from the ultra-light homologation-weight spec). Mixed in were 55 competition 2.8 RSRs for a total of 1580 cars. These 1580 cars were built in three series: the 1st series ends at about serial number #0527 and the 2nd series at about serial number #1067. This is important because after #1067 Porsche phased out thin-gauge steel for the bodies, thin glass, aluminium front cross members and aluminium frames for the ducktails, changed the trailing arms and added undercoating. This has led the 1st and 2nd series cars to be more sought after and having a higher valuation.

Our car, #0671 - a 2nd series car - was delivered in February 1973 with engine nr 6630680 and gearbox nr 7830667 to its first Italian owner Emilio Encole of Milan. With two subsequent Milanese owners, it was then purchased by Como-based Flavio Vigano who used the car from 1977 to 1979 in various Italian races and hill climbs with excellent results.

Over the next 15 years, the car passed through several other Italian owners (all of which are known and documented) until it was bought in 2002 by Marcello Medici who ordered a full restoration of the car by the best Italian craftsmen and specialists (Cremonini for the bodywork and paint, Biasseti for the mechanicals and Ferraresi for the interior). When the restoration was finished, Mr Medici coveted his 2.7 RS and - during his 10 year ownership - occasionally showed it in various Porsche Italy concours events. In 2013, we brokered the sale of #0671 to its prior owner who used the car sparingly while in his Austrian vacation residence.

This stunning Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS Touring is one of only 71 cars delivered in striking Viper Green. It is in outstanding cosmetic and mechanical condition and - as it is an early chassis-number - it has the thin gauge steel thereby shaving 38 kg of the car’s weight. The VIN-plate and chassis numbers are all present and authentic with matching engine and gearbox.

While the interior of #0671 has been restored to Light-Weight specification, the original Recaro seats, original carpets, rear seats and door panels come with the car as does the original steering wheel, tool-kit and compressor. The car has good documentation including the Italian and Austrian road registration documents.

This is clearly an exceptional 2.7 RS which is ready to be cherished and enjoyed by its next, lucky custodian!
