Does anyone else suffer from "All fixed, now what?" syndrome?

Over the years, I have restored some 20 cars from the ground up, some just repaired/rebuilt to a standard. Today, I only have two of those. It sometimes feels as if I fix - n - flip. However, I never intend to in the beginning of ownership. It is always love at first sight, and anytime I buy with intent to sell, its a major drag.

Once I get everything dialed in/restored and fixed....the car screaming consistently....I then think, "Now what?"

I'm sure I'd make a lot of heads spin if I said, I'd sure like to sell/trade my car for a 67S complete project now that the 68L is 100% ironed out. I feel the need to constantly research, fix, hunt for parts, use these forums, document, etc... and when I am done....its as if the shows over!

    Anyone else go through this?

I'd say yes. I did it with all the cars I bought new. And all the motorcycles I bought new or built. Always moved on.

But I have the feeling that the work is never done on a longhood. Between little details and maintenance, I don't get the feeling I'll ever be done on my 911, so that's solved the problem of what to move on to next!!

For sure, I'm them there all the time. So, go drive it and break something so you can fix it! Broke a windshield a few days ago driving with the boys. Something to fix again.

Yup, me too. Since I retired I've been restoring other cars to keep me occupied when my Porsche(s) have been essentially complete. The last non-Porsches were a '64 FJ40 and my current '81 Rabbit Pickup 16v hot rod.

But the flip side is that I have intentionally left a few things undone on the '72T, so I can continue poke away at stuff over time.

I would be frustrated if I was a "keep it stock guy". For me the car will never be done. When I've gone through all the parts just start over and upgrade. I think I've done it 2 times and now have a huge list of upgrades to do. I just love to tinker on this car. For me the Porsche experience requires that I can work on the car. My window seals and headliner need replacing. That would be a good time for a paint job. Longballa would be over the top, then either a Dark Green or Tabaco Brown leather interior and like color square weave carpet. All new (Rebel/Elephant) coil over suspension and other bits will be added next winter. The fun never stops.
And I have a Ultra Blau 69 POLO I get to build for Doug DePew. Life is Good.

LOL. I do think if one restores to #1 and then drives it for a while, the urge to take one's now #2 car back to #1 will keep one busy for the rest of one's life!
