    Radio face plate discussion

The face plate used by Porsche for 911 radios was different (smaller chrome) … someting that’s well known, an example to show the difference:

… the FS item is a “universal” faceplate as fitted in aftermarket, dealer etc but not Porsche factory item for the blaupunkt radios they installed..

Why is item posted incorrectly “911 Parts” section thereby adding to the only volunteer moderator’s “workload” at this time !?

Unless proof is provided showing that item complies with the highlighted forum FS “rule” I suggest the original poster respectfully moves the item themself, rather than having Peter spend time to police it.

Edit : To restore some lost context, this FS item was originally posted by Enoz05 in “early 911 Parts”. Incorrect to infer from that placement it is an “911 part” imo.

The thread has has been deleted moved and edited at least three times so the context of my input got lost

To be clear I did not initiate this thread.

While I showed the black and white image as just one example primarily to distinguish the universal aftermarket wide one being offered FS vs the neater smaller chrome plates that surrounded just the dial and buttons, at times the factory fitted smaller chrome with a recessed matte finish to the cross bar.

No radios were ever installed from the factory. So no face plates either. This was always done at the dealership at the request of the customer

I guess all those Kardexes and COAs that mention Blaupunkt radios are phony. Who knew?

Yes, my Kardex showing a Blaupunkt Frankfurt and even listing its serial number must be fake ... who knew indeed?

That threads states that radios were USUALLY installed at the dealer - but a number of cars ordered with it, came with the radios installed at the factory as the Kardex states their serial numbers. Was the radio in a box to be installed by the dealer, your guess is as good as mine, but it definitely came from the factory.
