    Rick,

Are you coming to Rennsport with 1059? If so I would like to meet and see your car.

You'll be proud of me, I'm driving Patrick out to Monty. We leave this Saturday. Can't wait.

    Not sure, Brian . . .

    (. . . but I'm gonna try)

Have a good trip. (Maybe take some pictures along the way? . . . )

I'm sure Patrick will appreciate the workout!

    Rick

PS And good on you for driving him. If I go --- all I do is prowl the Corrals for cars like yours, anyway . . .

    Rennsport Reunion IV

    Hhhh.

1059 needs some attention --- oil/filter change and valve check, mostly. Tony and Marco at TLG are the only people I work with out here, but they're not exactly close-by. I suppose I could find another outfit that's more conveniently located, but . . . I like these guys. Fun to talk with, fun to hang around with, fun to see their shop. Always look forward to seeing 'em. Plus --- I like having the same people get familiar with the car. And John's right next door, too. Always fun to see what he's up to, in to.

Anyway, gonna try to make it to RRIV. I'm not much into race cars, any more. And I've got this seat-project coming up. Can't/won't stay long. I mean . . . really can think of better things to do, right now . . . with both my time and money.

But . . . Brian's driving out from Indiana (!) with Patrick (!!). And I see that Russ (the Bus) is coming out, from Florida, as well . . . so . . . I figure I can burn a couple-three-hundred-dollars-worth of high-test to try to catch up with these guys, visit. Might be fun. (Drive will.)

Anyway --- like I said, car needs service, but getting out to North Hollywood from Southern Orange County is a major ordeal --- I'm actually taking a train out there to pick up the stupid car --- but it just so happens that Tony and Marco are out at Auto Kennel tomorrow, in Costa Mesa, which is a heck of a lot closer than The Valley, so . . . they've offered to take 1059 back with 'em. Saves me half a trip.

I've just got a, er, short list of, er, items that need their expert ministrations.

So --- I'll just leave everything up to them . . . the maintenance, my car, my going to Rennsport . . .

    No pressure.

    Date with 'Patrick'

Last month, I'd moved some stuff that I'd had in storage, dug-up my old hard-drive, and the back-up . . . came across these.

I'd written earlier about the first actual real-live 'S' car prospect that I'd seen in person, a Conda green '71, up in Santa Cruz. (See post# 5) Well ---- here are the pics of that car that I took that day.

    This is 9111300499, Brian Fryar's 'Patrick,' ex-Lee McKay . . .

. . . and a HUGE reason for me to make it to Rennsport Reunion IV . . .

Brain is driving this car out from Indiana.

    Not trailering it.

    Not shipping it.

    . . . 'Slow Traffic Keep Right'

1059's good to go. We're on for Rennsport Reunion IV.

Did everything over the phone with TLG. Valves were loose, brake fluid's fine, other little stuff, but the big thing was that Marco went through the whole MFI, re-set everything --- throttle-plates, linkages, the works, so . . . .

    ~$1100

Paperwork's in the car, and the car's at John's. I mentioned a list of work when the car got picked-up, and there were some additional items that came up --- Marco's thinking about Alaska, too. I'll break everything down after I get back.

Anyway, taking a train out to Van Nuys Friday, John's picking me up, getting the car, heading out to the So-Much-More-Than-a-Girlfriend's, dinner (w/her Offspring), sleep (try), then . . . blasting-off Saturday AM. Gotta be there by 8:00 --- Jerry Haussler's got a ticket for me and I owe him some booth-time. I figure 7 hours getting there, to be safe, so . . . .

Meanwhile . . . I've been trying to shake-off a cold/flu/plague thing, for a few days, now. Coupla people were walking around the office with something revoltingly respiratorial for weeks, and so, now that it's been brewed into something really special/nasty? . . . I get it. (Figures) Luckily, weather's been really hot, so, with any luck . . .

    And if not? . . . . I'll be the croaky-sounding Guy . . . wearing a face-mask.

    R

PS . . . and if you're anywhere on The Five/152/101 heading North, some time early Saturday? . . .

Looked for ya but, there were so many people around. Heck, I probably walked by you several times without it hitting me. I do have a couple of pics around here somewhere.......I see you found Patrick!

I wonder how many people laughed about those seat covers never knowing what lies underneath.
