Am I wrong, but I am hearing from reputable people that the RS market may be on fire again. Any truth here?

    Thanks,

I'm not sure what constitutes 'on fire', but yes the sale prices I have heard in the last couple of months demonstrate a significant move up. I really don't know a % amount, but enough to really surprise me. If this trend holds, I will be way under insured on my car.

Thanks and agreed Brian. I am calling my insurance company to increase the cars value. Well, given what our real estate and stock investments have done, this is a breath of very fresh air. I hope it continues.

Gooding, at Amelia Island, sold RS 1317 last Friday (3/9). It was bid to $260K and was a no sale in the auction, but sold later for $275K with the BP. Maybe the seller wanted out at $250K?

This car was offered for sale not too long ago at Mohr Imports in Monterey.

A couple of Carreras up for sale at RM Monaco last weekend. A Sepia Touring model, 0038, sold for $254K. Maybe the crowd wasn't all that excited about a brown RS.

There was also an M471 up for sale, 0334. It was a no sale with a high bid of $259K. Must be a story with this one.

I would say so, this is from the description on RM's web site:

    Addendum
It has come to our attention that this car may have been reshelled with a circa 1978 shell.

That is the second time in recent history that RM got snookered on an RS sale.

Thanks for pointing that out. The auction company must have added this statement after I looked at the description a couple of weeks ago. This very much explains the lack of bids. I did notice the VIN tag is a total non-factory fabrication. I wish they would have photographed the stamped trunk VIN. I wonder what the production number is.
