The long story shortened is that I bought the car in late 2010 and the car was rough to begin with, just not that rough. I purchased it from Ill. as a fixer upper. Within 6 hours of being loaded the driver stopped for dinner where, acting on a tip, the DEA sent a dog around the entire hauler. The dog hit on the rear drivers quarter of my car and the front passenger door of a 2010 fully loaded Ford double cab 4x4. That meant that both cars had to be searched. And so they did. Basically the DEA believed they were going to find something north of 1 Million Dollars in my car and or the truck so they did not really car about how they took the car apart. First they lifted it off the top of the trailer with straps and a forklift. Then they basically destroyed everything in side with a knife or a crowbar. All items in the car were basically core material to begin with but they actually broke everything; dash, door panels, rear seat belt covers, package tray cover that comes down behind the rear seats, seats front and back, headrests, steering shaft cover, smugglers box, door pockets, rear deck lid (again crow bar), door panel tops, AC unit in smugglers box, popped tires (I had to put a set of deep six's on as rollers to get it off the trailer), aluminum door thresholds looked like pretzels, poked holes under thresholds so they cold see if there was $$ in the longs which ruined the heater tubes, removed core engine and empty 915 case (apparently they got excited when they found the empty transmission thinking there was $$ in it, but the guy at the shop where this happened said they looked like they lost a puppy when the realized it was empty), removed valve covers and chain covers and last but not least the glovebox door (used a crowbar instead of turning the knob, it was un-locked). In the end I was happy that the owner of the shop where this happened was a bit of a car guy. He did refuse to cut the car in half with a sawzall when asked, telling the agent that he was not going to cut a car in half that could be worth $100,000 in restored condition. Needless to say, they did not find any money, which was what they were looking for and they sent the car on its merry way. To add insult to injury, the windows would not go up and, remember the huge storm at the of 2010 across the middle of the country, the car spent 3+ days in torrential rain and snow. Truck shows up and the driver was a big Cuban guy, missing part of his pinkie finger. We, Mark and I, changed the wheels and pushed the car off the trailer and and sent the trucker on his way. Lest anyone think poorly of the DEA or government, I am in the process of getting some $$ out of them and, quite frankly, I love this car so much, and wanted it so much, I really don't care that they did what they did. I have never been mad or sad about it. I do not know how things go here as I am pretty new so I will just say, please do not turn this into a bash of the Govt. I would rather look at the bright side. She is a work in progress now and will be exactly what I wanted when she hits the road in the near future, hopefully with in the next 6 months.

Wow Jonathan, sheet happens I guess. As long as you're happy, I think I'll leave it alone. It will be good to see the car finished.

That is quite an introduction. You could start a great thread.

I hope the car turns out to be everything you want it to be.

I feel ashamed to live in a country that has a government that would do that. I hope they have to pay big time for all those parts that you just can't get anymore and if you can they cost an arm and a leg. Not to mention the cost of all the labor for making it right again.

This seems way out of line. Did they even ask if the things could be opened normally? Seems like material for a lawsuit to me. Vandalism by the DEA.
