Hello Folks can someone tell me from when Porsche stared to paint the boot body color ?
I am about to buy an E car and the boot is painted black, not a big deal but need to know if it's right ?
The car is a 2,2L 70
Thanks

I believe Model Year 73 was the first all body color. gled
Definitely 73 for the boot, engine compartment and wheel wells to be in the body colour. '70 is black I think, although I think boot may be body and engine compartment may be black.
EDIT: I take that back. This is a very correct 71 and it is the boot is rough finish in body colour. https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=F147D...F3FCCDE9%21315
Only the engine compartment is black in this case.

Most likely this car is a Karmann car, as many trunks were painted black through 70 on cars originating from them. The factory MY 70+ cars had body colored trunks.
So, to be clear, my understanding is the factory stopped the 'painted trunk/boot/luggage compartment' practice for MY 70 cars, but Karmann kept up the practice for another year. 69 was the last year for a factory black storage area.

Mine is a 1970 Euro-version and looks 'semi-finished' . . . meaning its painted --- just not to the same standard as the exterior
There's also a thread on 700-mile US version, also '70, that you should check-out . . .
