    "S" vs "E"

    So what is the difference between a 1969 911S and a 911E engine? I am familiar w the "T" no counterweights on the crank ect act

    E has: Lower lift cams, lower compression pistons, MFI pump calibrated differently, green engine shroud.

    The E also has smaller throttle body intakes. The biggest difference is about 40,000 dollars.

    Is there an aluminum deck lid on the S and not on the E?

    Yes it is green on the E.

    Differences include valves, heads/port sizes, MFI pump space cam, pistons, camshafts. All led to to higher compression, power, and noticeably different torque curve.

    Also 1 year only clutch disc and pressure plate for S.

    Regarding the decklid questions, as I understand it, all S cars came with an aluminum decklid, and early E cars did as well up to '71 or so. My '70E (built in 7/69) has the original aluminum decklid, which was not called out specifically on the COA.

    I don't think the alu lid was used until 70. The 69 utilized the one year only three bar grill. Don't know that I've heard of one of those in alu. I should check my 69 parts manual to see if a different part is listed for the S.

    My '70 E built in 12/69 does not have aluminum lid.
