Thanks! That's great news! Do you have the kardex? If you could send a copy that would be amazing. Dave(the owner) is trying to get a COA at the moment but porsche nz is being very frustrating. They want us to supply the original details like engine number etc so that the document will be correct?? I thought we were requesting it so we could check that we had the correct parts.

The pictures are very helpful Stewart, and fap901 that is a great pic! The owner must have been the coolest guy in town in 1965.

A new one for my list!

    Good news for the custodian I can confirm the car was a RHD UK delivery with the following;

    Paint: "Agablau 6608" (Aga Blue)
    Interior: "Kunstl. beige" (beige leatherette)

**a great colour combo, and the 2nd built of two early RHD's I have listed in this colour combination**

It was a UK delivery but I am not sure of the handling dealer, could it have been other than AFN? No ownership details available.

The Kardex lists the ever important term "Rechtslekung" signifying RHD; without this term specifically listed on the Kardex a car's not an original RHD, despite what some would have you believe about what are LHD conversion cars. The only other listed option was Lautsprecher (speaker).

Build date was October '65 but delivery was not until the end of January, 1966.

Welcome to the 65/66 RHD 901 "<20" club.

    Congrats!

Out of interest I changed the tyre on the the other Aga Blue one

About 13 years ago I was on the hunt for my current car and out of sheer coincidence I stopped to assist a lovely little old lady driving that '65 Aga Blue 911 on Wardell Street, Southport Qld. She had a flat and was was struggling (pre common mobile phones). After changing the tyre for her and absolutely drooling over the original condition of the car, I gave her my card and asked her to call me if ever it became available for sale. She smiled and said it was her husband's and promised to another family member. I forget her name, but I do suspect the car is safe. The experience cemented my desire for an early car!

Fantastic Pic, thanks for sharing. That's the AFN RHD demonstrator, Bali Blue with black, not 1st RHD delivered as used as a demonstrator & sold to a private client later in '66/7 sometime, without grabbing my records. I've all the details on this car filed away; but I have not seen that image before, brilliant.

I'm currently working up the histories of the first four RHD chassis; three of which came to Australia: stay tuned.......

    John,

That's a great story, I bought this same car off the street in Noosa a few years ago around 2003/4; I left a note on it, received a call later in the day and did the deal. It was owned by an architect (not an old lady) who also had a C Coupe and had done some slight recommissioning of the car; reg QLD 'SSS-67' despite it being a '65. It was planned to be turned into a race/rally car by me until I researched it & saw how original it was and decided against any movement away from original.

It now resides a block- literally- from me here in Adelaide. Here's two pics whist I had it in Melbourne, one with my Heuers and a correct wood wheel which I put on as it was lacking this........

If it's not the car you changed the tyre on, then there's still one out there.

    Cheers

    Stew.

Pretty sure that's it! Though it looks to have 15" wheels? Pretty sure it had 14" when I changed the wheel.

Bum. When I passed on my card it was my old work desk number and sans mobile (I always wondered if someone had ever tried to call it )... Glad to hear it has been left stock, it really was a bit a of a time capsule.

Hi Reuben. There can't be many 65's in NZ. I came across one 13 years ago when I was looking for my current 911. It was in Akl, RHD, red paint and had a fibreglass body kit on it & whale tail!. I remember not being particularly interested. The vendor was youngish, but made a real point of saying that it was tricky to find parts for ..and that there wern't many 65 911s around. Meant very little to me at the time. LOL! How times change.
Wonder if this is your bosses car?

This one 302773 showed up about a year ago in NZ, claiming to be the first NZ delivered 911

Seems it was painted red at one time so perhaps it's the car you looked at.

I'm still suspicious of this car actually, it's said to be factory RHD but a few things are leftish, for instance:

See the mounting holes for the "911" script are on the wrong side, symptomatic of a glovebox which was originally mounted on the right.

Also, when I asked Porsche about this car they said no to "Rechtslekung". However they said yes to Webasto. There's no way you'd get a Webasto to fit into the smaller RHD smugglers box.

    My $0.02.

I can't explain post 14. Stew's other photo in post 9 has it on the correct side for a RHD.
