Wow, Jo Siffert! He must have owned it at the time of his death in October 1971. Would he be the person referenced by one of the contacts in your earlier posts about a previous owner dying? Great detective work.

Great detective work! Goes to show what happens with some hard work and perseverance.
Could be the story of the year for the Early S Registry...
A prolific contributor to the board, 'one of the regular guys', full of boundless enthusiasm for the early 911, drives his car, posts his experiences, asks questions, tries to answer questions, a keeper of the 'get the VIN' ethos on FS ads. And he pulls it all off with a nothing to hide, everything to gain attitude.
Then this serendipitous bit of news. It couldn't have been scripted any better, Rick! I am very happy for you
-Bryce
This is very cool!!! Words cannot express how happy we are for you Rick!
To me, a long time racing fanatic, this is on par with the Steve McQueen 911 legend!

Below, this could be 1059 in front of Siffert's dealership garage:
Below, in the sales room, to the right one can see an Alfa Gulia, a car model reportely Siffert owned.
According to Jack Heuer, after spring 1969 Siffert changed to driving Porsche only.
Also, german export plates on this 911 in front of the dealership.
This 911 (1059?) comes directly from Germany as Switzerland does not have this kind of plate-design for export cars.
His funeral in his hometown, Fribourg, Switzerland

Congratulations Rick, how very cool!
Couldn't be happier for you.
Will you still drive 1059 as you did?
Cheers,
Bud

What a trip! absolutely fascinating. I too am curious how you feel about the car now, but I hope you continue to use it just as you have been. Alaska can only enhance its story.

My Car Thread: "Five-Eighty-Seven..."
“If it isn't there, it didn't cost anything, it doesn't weigh anything and can't break." - From the philosophy of Grady Clay
I’ve read about this kinda stuff happening --- about some old car . . .
. . . missing . . .
. . . long lost . . .
. . . once owned by . . .
. . . found in a barn . . .
. . . discovered . . .
. . . and so now --- here I am. Only the words I’m reading?
. . . are ones that I’m writing
Right now, there are about a half-dozen conversations going on --- more people and parts of The Story . . . so there’s more coming --- but . . . .
. . . for now? --- first of all? --- personally? . . .
I’m kinda in shock . . . I mean --- what are the odds?
A Car Bum, like me? --- turning-up a car like this?
Holy-moly --- and I only picked The Nasty Car ‘cause I liked the color
And I didn’t get really serious about tracking down any history . . . until I looked at her ratty old key-fob
And almost from the start, here I am --- on Our Registry . . . spreading the whole mess out for You Guys . . . and all along the way --- little stuff kept turning-up . . . a funky this + weirdo that . . . with people helping . . . passing information along . . . names . . . contacts . . . making calls (Karim) . . .
. . . and now look what's happened!
OK --- this is fun!
And, oh-yeah-yeah --- I’m driving her, same as before . . . we’re not done, yet. All that’ll be changing? . . . . . are my insurance premiums
Gulp!
And the funnest/funniest thing? . . .
. . . I bought The Nasty Car --- on a Friday The Thirteenth . . . see post #8

Received, last night . . .
. . . 911 030 1059 wurde gebaut im Dez.'69 und an den Versuch ausgeliefert,
ich weiss leider nicht für was das Auto im Versuch verwendet wurde!
Aber im April'71 wurde das Auto an Jo Siffert verkauft . . .
. . . 911 030 1059 was built in Dec. '69 and delivered to the Experimental (department),
Unfortunately, I do not know what the car was delivered to (the department) for
But in April'71 the car was sold to Jo Siffert . . .

Maybe "the 2.4 style" front spoiler was on this Dec 69 built 2.2S from day one.
It would have a front spoiler two years before it appeared on 72 cars.
(I cant find your post where you wrote that it was added later or not.)
"Versuch" usually had all kind of special equipments (engine, trans, etc.).
Siffert 1971 2.2S had a 2.4lS prototype engine.
Some 1965 "Versuch" cars had prototyp 911S 180hbp engines installed, two years before they came on market.
Also, a 1972 built RS prototyp "Versuch" had an 72 oil trap and no rear spoiler and special blue paint, just to get an idea about Versuch" cars.
Finally, the archive at the museum must know more and you need the physical Kardex or a copy of it.
I know that Aichele was able to get all infos about experimental cars and published it in his book.
If Noack does not know more (he first say no.. then finds out its a Ex-Siffert, I am shure there is more to get..), make a date with Landenberger, get a flight to Stuttgart and go searching at their archive..
As I wrote you in my email, great you own this car. You deserve it. Keep it, drive it.
