    FS: 1968 911 Targa Sportomatic

I believe this car has been talked about here before. This has everything going for it.....great options, color, sporto, documentation, etc. It should be interesting to see where this ends up price wise. Not much info in the listing....but I'm sure it will go very high.

Pretty car. Can't believe how poorly the auction is presented. I'm sure it'll do well but that sporto is still going to hurt it.

Yes. It's go for more if it was a 5-speed.

Was it ever determined if this was actually the correct rendition of Sea Foam Green? I seem to recall some doubt about that.

BTW, the sporto never hurt the sale price of this car. A member here owned it and transacted a sale to Roads Scholars, and it wasn't cheap...

Didn't expect it to be cheap. Just expect it to go even higher with a better transmission.

I reached out to the seller. He's local so I'll try and see the car if it's real but I think Erik's probably right.

I think you may be correct. Weird history on the seller.

My guess is the color change didn't hurt resale value.

Well this is interesting for 2 reasons:

    1. I owned this car for number of years and restored it. Don Emory did the paint work and it was Sea Green an optional color for 1968. After showing it several times and enjoying how the Sportomatic shifted (up and down as fast as I could move the nob) and the engine was a little stronger than "normal" which probably compensated for the sporto, I sold it to Road Scholars. They then sold it to a collector Tom Grier and he has asked me several questions over the past few years. I have sent him an email to see if he listed it, which I highly doubt.

    2. The photos of the car in the Ebay ad where ones that I had taken several years ago in my driveway in Woodinville, Wa. IF this was a legit sale, why wouldn't the owner have his pictures of his own to promote the car? I think he may have gotten them off of Road Scholars website from several years ago.

Not sure where to go from here?
