Incredible how the original 1000USD difference between an S and an RS has compounded over 40 years.

Yes. They are until they aren't. No one can be "in the know" about investments but these are like a growth stock - negative cash flow even - and as long as they go up more pile into them. Until something happens to the economy and people stop buying and maybe have to sell.
When a car is $1,000,000 you may not be able to afford to maintain it. The inflation of values has not helped with parts prices or what shops are now charging. Things are high and would go even higher. Many hobbyists are priced out of the market due to the "Tulip Mania". This is what is pushing values on cars that I don't find remotely collectible. I wouldn't buy an old Porsche at these elevated prices. There are just too many other cars to be enjoyed and for me I care less what anybody thinks about what I drive. (BTW, drove a FOCUS ST/EcoBoost today and it is a hoot.)
But I digress...
Debt from 10 Trillion to 17 Trillion since 2008. A stock market bubble CREATED by the FED. A Bond Bubble too. (When the pump stops the part is over.)
How about another "INSIDE JOB"?
The current administration has done nothing "promised" with respect to reeling in the banking industry and has only aligned itself more deeply with the money changers.
Read "The Creature From Jekyll Island" which is the birth of the Federal Reserve. We (still) have Robber Barons the equal of anything that was around at the turn of the 20th century.

Well stated Tom. The bond bubble will be the last one for the Central Bank. Once that bursts as interest rates raise (and the printing press is turned off) the money to be made will be on the downside for the equity market, unfortunately many people will once again be hurt just like the last 2 times. They should not have tried to bail out the financial system after the credit bubble burst. It will be much worse because of their meddling.
Bright side though parts may be affordable again and we can lower our insurance values again.![]()

That's the beauty of an RS; except for a handful of parts (ok, a few more than that), there's nothing special about them. They will be no more expensive to maintain than a garden variety MFI 911.
I feel prices in US are ahead of those in Europe, I know of a couple of cars in Italy that have recently sold / are for sale privately for the equivalent of $450-475k. One of them is a first series car.

Hi Andrea,
You are correct, prices here for these cars are higher. I find that interesting.
