European Classics in Costa Mesa had a black in their showroom this last Saturday. It is not on their website though.

I understand the desire but you've shown up late to the party by about 10 years.

Probably THE last car I'd try to purchase. Fakes and reproductions made from parts cars are out here. And there are some truly hammered cars that have been repaired poorly.

When Tom Bobbitt was president of the PCA back in 2005 he told me that if I was looking for a car (RS) to let him know because there were a lot of questionable examples that I should steer clear of.

Fast forward nearly 10 years and a 10+ fold return on the price of admission. If integrity was questionable in 2005 when this car was just beginning to show renewed interest (they had crapped out once before) how do
you feel about integrity at $500,000?

Documentation is the key. Chain of ownership. Any car that has anything even remotely off-putting or gives pause; walk away.

    Good luck!

    Yes, caution absolutely required.
Understand that you will pay a large premium for a no questions RS and if you are fine with that, then there are a few pros who can help you find and vet one. They are private sales.
But you have to be serious - and willing to act quickly.

Gentlemen , thank you for the advice . I agree this is not easy . I have been looking for THE RIGHT RS literally for years now , not so much late to the party just fussy and a little unlucky on a couple of occasions . I have a few vehicles and am not new to this , It was as a form of thinking outside the box that I posted here . On the off chance there was a known car , perhaps owned here that the seller may be in two minds to sell but could be persuaded to part with for example . Most of my other vehicles never came on the market at all . I have also tried all the usual suspects and have either had no luck or the car has not been correct . I though a post here was worth a try .

I assure you I am very serious -and willing to act quickly . My only condition is a thorough inspection before purchase by my team and no orange cars .
    Thank you again

    wt

thanks for the costa mesa tip .

All will look generally fine post restoration.
You need to see the photos pre restoration.

And there should be a large binder of them still with the car. There was several years ago when I first saw this one. Something tells me though this is not the type of car wt is looking for.

Anyone know the ask on the jade green RS and whether it is a project or a done car?

The restoration was completed on the Jade Green RS around 2010, maybe a year before. Don't remember who did the work, but it was not done by CPR. I saw the car at Essen that year.

Look at post #388 in the "RS for sale" thread and you will see why I doubt wt would be interested in this one.
