...as far as I cannot see the mid 70s factory production record does not show factory replacement body number.
No credit for their auction listing so riddled with many obvious errors sbout RS model. A listing that made such a big deal about so called "lightweight" body when all the words were not really relevant for this RS example that never ever had thin panels when new ....but then they finally fessed up to the rebody. Not impressed!
This example raises a question that I put those who know about the RS model details and nuances:
For a third series RS (chassis no 1418 was actually an M471 when it left the factory) what EXACTLY are the detailed differences to its original late RS M471 tub metalwork vs. contemporary TES that might have donated its tub -- just differences in raw metalwork and factory assembly operation terms?
1) The rear suspension modifications / strengthening found in later cars
2) rear panel arch flares
3)?
Significant number of body panel thickness differences etc, etc if it had been a first two series RS example that was rebodied in this way, but in this case it is not.
What exactly is different panel for panel for this late example ( leaving aside for the moment the many obvious other questions about production number, chassis stamps, transmission and engine etc, etc, etc)

GP White with red RHD M471 chassis 9113601501 UK registration number AUI1500 will be offered for sale through H&H Classics in Hindhead Surrey in the UK. (Privately offered via H&H Classics, but not appearing in one of their car auctions, is what was told by current owner Mark when we caught-up at the Pub last month).

RS Chassis #1501 was the last example of the 17 RHD British 1973 RS M471 Sport. (UK road registered AUI1500 during period of activity). RS with that registration plate had significant in period Motorsport history in 70s -- notably participating in many rally's including three international wins.
UK road registration numberplate AUI1500 is currently on the car being sold. Not matching engine or gearbox.
Carrera RS chassis # 1501 is reported to have sustained significant accident damage in a racing incident. An article in July-August 2016 Classic Porsche Magazine (No 37) gives a lot of detail about the car and the major restoration of what was procured from South Africa as a damaged shell. This magazine article explains that the damage was due to RS #1501 having a 155+mph (!?) accident that involved it hitting a wall of the Kyalami former F1 race circuit in Johannesburg South Africa then cartwheeling onto its roof and causing an engine fire; thereby ending racing in the late 1980s.
Written by current owner, (in an 8 page magazine piece), it tells the story of the car that is up for sale via H&H much better than I could summarise it here in this FS thread. Work undertaken is explained -- how a contemporary non-sunroof RHD T was used in the process and so forth. I suggest anyone interested in the full details of the story beyond what's written in the link posted above gets a copy of that magazine article to read the owners' words direct. Car for sale also featured very recently in "Posh Pawn" a UK TV series resulting in an offer of a cash loan up to £500,000 ($0.66m) against the TV celebrity pawnbroker's full valuation of the car as collateral.
There exists an old picture of RS chassis #1501 in South Africa in the damaged state resulting from that Kyalami crash. Relieved to know the driver survived such a high-speed shunt.
The car that is for sale with H&H has been displayed at various early 911 events and been doing promotional rounds so presumably others here might have seen it.
I've been aware of registration AUI1500 being with its U.K. owner for a number of years and saw car undergoing some final reassembly work in Sussex specialist workshop some time ago before it being shown in Ireland. Was curious if / when it might come up for sale--interested now to see how the market responds now it is being offered for sale.
Not mine no affiliation (although I have known its current owner through early 911 and RS owner community here in UK for nearly 25 years). Best of luck with the sale.

Re 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight RM auction lot 133
The auction write up does state 'Porsche Certificate of Authenticity' I guess this counts for something?
WOW Thats worth .02
This German market car has resurfaced in the UK apparantly? http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C789853
NOT mine, NO affiliation!!
Moderately curious to see the next chapter in the story if it is indeed the much discussed Pesto360 car, however![]()

Oh no, not that turd again.
Totally fake car (not a factory rebodied car), nothing on this car is from the original RS. Even has restamped engine case with the serial number of an engine from another RS.
Steve,
Did you ever see the document that Maxed-Page put together for the this car before it was sold at Bonhams? Thanks.
