These are very very rare. It took me ten years of very intense daily searching in all forums/for sale sites to eventually find a set of 7045's.

I have a set of Hella lenses which were also used in Rhd during the period which are direct replacements if you want to buy as an alternative. Not as difficult to find but still pretty rare in Rhd.

Search using Bosch 7045 found this very old thread, adding to it as it provides some context to my question about this lens and housing with the markings and stickers per photos:

The three digit on label if a Bosch manufacturing code is a bit grubby but looks like 502 which would be Feb 65 — if so consistent with early 911. I’m no expert on earliest 911 but wasn’t first RHD 911 delivered in U.K. was in May 65?

Date of this type of lamp is long before my model year 73 car (which still has original H4s date coded 1972 stickers). Maybe would sell (or swap it) by posting in appropriate section but at this stage posting initially to establish information about what I have from folks who know more about the earlier 911 lights.

This is funny. I’ve been beating my brains out recently trying to find the correct lenses for a SWB owner in the U.K. and I had completely forgotten that I knew this - it’s even on my website. So I’ve been searching for the RHD version of the Bosch 4487 which I’m now reminded by me that it was the 7405. Which are the definition of unobtainium.

I remember it it was yesterday (actually it was yesterday) hearing that RHD H1 lenses are commonly used, but I’m not sure of that. My main question to my friends in the U.K. is what lenses do you use on your SWB cars? I

    Cheers,

The answer John is in my post above. Since that time 4 years ago I have managed to secure a second pair of NOS Rhd 7045 lenses as spares. I also have a nice pair of Rhd H1 Units.
Most fit incorrect H4’s to swb cars because Rhd original lenses/units are so hard to come by. To have the correct fluted top lenses for a swb Rhd car the nearest owners usually get are the slightly more common Hella’s that we’re fitted to my car when I got it in 2006.

Thanks Mike, so if I offer it Ill assume the one I have is correct spec from the very earliest RHD 911 in May 65 through until that supercession for H1 68S even though date code points to item being a 65 model year item.

H1 and H4 are familiar descriptors is there an accepted term for these or are these simply known as Bosch 7045/4487 based on the lens number
