That is the Forgotten Highway, state highway 43 between Stratford and Taumaranui, central north island, New Zealand. There is an unsealed section in the middle which is not too bad to run on if dry but the drive in and out is a fantastic cambered third / forth flowing sealed road. There is a town in the middle called "Whangamomona" (pronounced Fong ah mom on ah) which is in its own little world and was declared a republic some time ago by the locals and a goat was voted in as mayor. A night there at the Whangamomona hotel is an experience in itself.

I like to get the idea that someday I can kick some of the world with the car. I've been taking notes for 2 years! This place looks funny. What about the goat is serious? Here we have many rulers, can they be family? JAJA (excuse this humor) but comes from a burned society ...
