I'm looking for a 68ish USA model Blaupunkt Frankfurt or New Yorker radio complete with knobs and faceplate. Will consider 65 - 70 models as well. Please let me know what you have. Thanks Steve

Nope that is a '68 model Frankfurt see here: http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/blaupun...s_7638650.html
The small chrome trim piece will slide right on this radio when that faceplate is removed.

I think the earlier models also had a separate amp that attached to the back like this one
Steve,
By the 1968 Porsche model year, Blaupunkt had dispensed with the separate amplifier of the Frankfurt X and earlier. The Blaupunkt Frankfurt Z (1968) will fit in the dash opening OK of a '65-'67 but the knob shafts are too short to work properly. The four knobs of the X are very different form the knobs of the Z because the shafts are different.

If I remember correctly, the Blaupunkts that found their way into most 68s were the Y series. The Frankfurt Y was unique in that it retained the older dial and buttons (with concave fronts) but used the single-piece case as per Neil. The New Yorker retained the two-piece case for at least a few more years, as the auto-tune function gobbled up a fair amount of space in the main case. I also think the radios used in '68 had unique rotary knobs, at least for the American market. It was the first year for DOT-mandated soft knobs, and they were slightly larger diameter than '69 and later. My memory may be sketchy here so please chime in to patch the holes. I'll see what I have; this is a small slice.
