    Auction Estimate:

This 1969 Porsche 911 is a race car with a rebuilt aluminum-case 2.0L flat-six that is set up for SVRA Group 8 B-Production and PCA club competition. The car has spent five years with the seller, a 20-year PCA member who raced it in several club and SVRA events with the last being in April 2014 at Lime Rock. A mechanical refresh between 2012-2014 included the rebuilt engine as well as suspension upgrades and other new components as detailed below. The sale includes two sets of wheels and tires, two front bumpers, two rear deck lids, and records since 2010.

Race livery is based on that of the 1969 class winner at the at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Cosmetics are good overall according to the seller, with white paint described as 7/10 in most areas and somewhat lower in quality on the hood. Competition touches include rubber hold-downs, brake ducts in place of front turn signals, number lights, small 911R-style taillights, headlight blanks, and hood-mounted Cibie driving lights. Track blemishes include stone chips in the front end as well as a dent in the right rocker panel.

A stock front bumper is included along with two rear deck lids, one flush and one with a duck-tail rear spoiler. Factory glass windows have been replaced with Lexan polycarbonate. Black and polished 7×15/8×15 Fuchs are currently mounted and wear Hoosier race rubber. An additional set of 15″ cookie cutters with worn Toyo RA1s is also included.

Driver protection is from a custom roll cage and deep single-piece racing seat. Other competition items include a quick-release Sparco wheel, elevated aluminum shifter, onboard fire suppression, and driver cooler. Six-point Schroth harnesses expired earlier in 2017 and will need to be replaced before further racing. A carbon fiber dash houses largely aftermarket instruments, switchgear, and warning lights. The car has reportedly been a racer for at least the last decade and chassis mileage is unknown.

The 2.0L flat six was built with ported twin-plug cylinder heads on an aluminum case from a 1967 911s. Parts are SVRA and PCA-legal according to the seller and include Mahle cylinders, Wiseco pistons, Pauter rods, Elgin cams, and more as listed in the spec sheet below. Induction is from 46mm PMO downdrafts, while exhaust exits via 1.5” Bursch headers and megaphones. Approximately four hours have been put on the fresh engine since its installation in 2014, including the car’s last race at Lime Rock in April of that year.

Shifting is through a stock 901 5-speed transaxle. Suspension upgrades include Bilstein RSR dampers, Sway-A-Way torsion bars, adjustable rear spring plates, and Weltmeister sway bars front and rear. Braking is from 911s vented rotors and calipers running stainless hoses and Hawk pads. A 17-gallon fuel cell was installed in 2013. Annual oil changes have been performed since the car’s last race in 2014.

The seller has included a video from a 2013 Watkins Glen PCA club race, noting that the event took place before the 2014 engine rebuild. All records from the engine work will be supplied along with SVRA and PCA logbooks and other documentation dating to 2010. The car is not titled or registered for street use and will be sold on a Massachusetts bill of sale.

    BaT Description:

This 1970 Porsche 911T is a modified example that was raced in multiple Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) events before it was stripped and rebuilt to its current configuration in 2013. It was acquired by the selling dealer two and a half years ago, with additional updates made during his ownership. The body was disassembled and repainted red during the initial build, and GTS Classic Le Mans seats, a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, and a recovered dash wear added by the seller. The 2.2L flat-six and 5-speed manual were sourced from a 1970 911S, and modifications include 911E cams, Weber carbs, and an Electromotive twin plug ignition. Multiple chassis modifications including Koni shock absorbers are detailed below, and the car is now offered with an HSR logbook and a clean Ohio title.

All body panels are believed original with no known accidents or other body repairs known by the seller. The car was repainted its current red during the 2013 build, and multiple race themed decals are present across various panels. Porsche cookie cutter wheels have been powder coated black and are mounted with Bridgestone Potenza tires. Suspension modifications include Koni shock absorbers, Sway Away spring plates, upgraded torsion bars, S brakes, delrin suspension bushings, and monoball inboard trailing arm bushings.

A set of black GTS Classic Le Mans style seats with Corbeau harnesses were added by the seller. The rear seat was removed and a delete kit has been fitted in its place, and the stereo was removed around the same time. A Momo Prototipo steering wheel was installed, and the original wheel is included in the sale. The dash was pulled and sent to Just Dashes to have a large crack repaired early in the seller’s ownership. While the dash was out, some rust was noted where the A-pillar meets the dash, which the seller sealed and refinished. The tachometer was non-functional when the car was acquired due to the aftermarket ignition system but has since been repaired. Approximately 94,700 miles are shown. The handle for the hood release safety switch is broken, but is still able to be opened.

Power comes from a 2.2L inline-six from a 1970 911S that was modified during the initial build in 2013. It is fitted with E cams, an Electromotive twin-plug ignition, and Weber 40 IDTP carbs. A 5-speed manual from a 911S sends power to the rear wheels. Some corrosion is noted on the original floor panels, and numerous undercarriage photos have been provided by the seller detailing the condition of the chassis and suspension. A log book from the car’s time racing with HSR is included in the sale along with the original radio, speakers, and set of windshield wipers.
