I have no problem with a salvage title from 1979..what was the car worth then?
The repairs pale compaired to renovating a rusty but non salvage title Porsche, the buyer and shop scored!
and they did the car justice, it looks great!

BaT Description:
This 1969 Porsche 911E coupe was originally sold at Chick Iverson Inc. in Newport Beach, California and remained in Southern California for most of its early life. The car was reportedly shipped to Honolulu, Hawaii for a few years, and it was then owned in California and Idaho before being acquired by the seller about four years ago. Finished in Light Ivory over a red leatherette interior, this LWB 911 is powered by its original fuel-injected 2.0L flat-six mated to a 4-speed Sportomatic gearbox. The car was recently moved from Texas to New Mexico, and a recent inspection report showed low engine oil pressure, with an engine rebuild recommended. It is now being offered for sale with the factory service booklet, records back to 2006, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Light Ivory (6804), and the car is believed to have been repainted once by a previous owner. The seller states that top of the right front fender was repainted more recently. Pitting is present on both of the front horn grilles. 1969 was the first year of the long wheelbase 911, which was intended to improve handling at the limit. This example wears a set of Fuchs wheels that are currently mounted with older Toyo tires. Note the Sportomatic badging out back, and also that the car is not equipped with a sunroof.
The interior is trimmed in red leatherette with basketweave set inserts, matching door panels, and red carpeting. A recent inspection noted that the driver’s seat cushioning is in need of a refresh and the passenger-side window visor is showing signs of wear. A period AM/FM radio remains fitted in the dash, and aftermarket air conditioning was added at some point. The clock is not functional, and approximately 77,650 miles are currently indicated on the 5-digit odometer. The seller has added under 1,000 miles over the last four years.
Power is provided by an injected 2.0L flat-six paired with a 4-speed Sportomatic transmission. The seller states the car runs well, though the included inspection report from La Carrera Garage shows that the engine has “very low oil pressure” and needs a rebuild. A photo of the engine stamping that matches the provided service booklet. The recent inspection also recommended replacing the struts, shocks, and ball joints in addition to rebuilding the brake calipers. Additional underside photos can be seen in the gallery.
The factory maintenance log has a few stampings from early in the car’s life, including from initial delivery on July 25, 1969. Incomplete records are also available back to 2006, and the seller states that the car was primarily serviced by Mayo Performance and Zim’s Autotechnik during his ownership. A copy of the most recent inspection report has been provided showing the aforementioned low oil pressure in addition to recommending that the transmission, clutch, brake calipers, and brake lines be updated.

Auction Description:
• 11th from last F-model Targa produced
• German delivery and European specifications from new
• Only three owners from new
• Matching numbers and colours
• Concours condition
This Porsche 911E was built for the German market and sold new to an American pilot in Munich by Mahag who used it in Germany until his return to the USA, a common enough occurrence at that time.
Delivered in the very attractive colour scheme of blue metallic it retains today, the car is believed to be one of the very last 2.4-Litres built and therefore one of the very last examples of the F-model that by then had been in production for nearly 10 years, since the start of the 911 range. This Targa moved with the first owner to South Carolina where it is believed to have stayed for most of its life before moving to its second owner in Texas. It was in Texas that the current Swedish owner was able to buy the car in 2012. He is only the third owner.
By then the Porsche was in need of restoration, so the current owner commissioned a 'last nut and bolt' rebuild to the highest standards in 2013, which was carried out in Europe. The car was completely disassembled and gone through, the body returned to factory-fresh condition. A lot of attention was paid to panel alignment and welding to maintain absolutely correct specifications. The repaint was meticulous and the car's shut lines are said to be excellent – truly something to admire. Factory procedures were followed in the paint shop so the work would compliment that done at the works 40-plus years ago. In addition, extensive corrosion protection was applied to ensure the body remains in good shape for years.
Mechanical components were restored wherever possible, and any worn parts replaced with new ones. Attention to detail was maintained at all times, and all components and systems work and perform as they should. Overall it took 3,000-plus man-hours to restore the car to the quality it deserves.
Since completion, it has only done some 400 shakedown kilometres. This 2.4 E Targa has been displayed at a couple of events where it has won several concours prizes.. Accompanying documentation consists of a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming the car's original specification (which it still retains today); old US title dated 2002; EU customs document confirming taxes paid; owner's manual; tool kit; and invoices and photographs relating to the recent meticulous restoration. Ready for any concours event, this stunning 911E Targa is worthy of a place in any important Porsche collection.
