    R.I.P. Ralph

Sad to announce Porsche racer Ralph Meaney passed away June 10th
He was one of the Good Guys, a real friend, always ready to lend a hand.
He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, Google him: Ralph U Meaney
Lots of Porsche racing history from the '60's-'70's

That's a name from past in the Northeast. Had a shop back in the 60-70's in Framingham. Ma and ran as a privateer in the big events.

I think he is best know for running a 914 GT at Daytona 24 hours in the early 70"s.

Growing up in Kirkland Ralph ran a Porsche shop called Meaney West. Always loved driving by and seeing a slew of cool, old Porsche's. I went to High School with his son Alex, sad for his family. Our hobby is losing all this knowledge and passion and the people replacing them don't know as much and seem as motivated by $$ as by the brand and culture surrounding it. RIP Ralph!

I too am sorry to hear the sad news. Late last year I was lucky enough to find the 74 car and was happy to let him know. Ralph and his family were very genorous to give the original trophies to the current owners of his cars which are a tribute to him. He was quite a driver. The 74 car is a 66 911 that Ralph raced at hill climbs, auto crosses then won the SCCA NE B Sedan championship before winning the GT class at Daytona in 1970. Then the 914s came in. His race cars will go on in his memory. Condolences to his family and friends.
