Not had time to look at photos in much detail but a few things jump out on what I suppose was Italian market spec 73 911. How does it compare to Italian market 911 nuances of that year — others might wish to comment?

This 2.7 RS has several special attributes. To start with, it has had just three owners from new. As indicated on the original warranty certificate, the car was delivered via the dealer Milan Car COMAUTO in May 1973 to a certain Mr Lanteri, a solicitor from Verbania. It later sold to a Mr Gobbi who registered it in his name then in the name of one of his parents, before it was taken off the road. The present owner, an important collector, acquired the car in 2010 decades after it had last been driven.

Next, this is a full matching numbers car, with all the original mechanical components including engine and transmission. Finally, it has benefitted from a sympathetic and correct restoration, thorough without being excessive, and faithful to the original and the spirit of the car. The current owner took it to the best Italian specialists to ensure the restoration respected its originality. The bodywork was stripped back to bare metal so that a rotisserie restoration could be carried out. It then benefitted from a repaint in its avorio chiaro color (code 1111) of the highest quality carried out by the famous Carrozzeria Bottini in Milan.
The Carrozzeria Melli, based in Como, carried out a full overhaul of the engine and transmission. Work on the interior was entrusted to the upholsterers Ferraresi based in Ferrara.
We strongly advise interested parties to consult the photo book covering the various stages of the restoration, as well as the file of invoices for spare parts. Unusually, the car still has its log books, owner's manuals and warranty certificate addressed to the first owner.

Today, the car is presented in superb condition and to the correct specification for the 'Touring' version more suited to road use than the Lightweight cars, designed to excel on the circuit. It is complete with all its equipment and displays a high quality of finish, with comfortable seats in leatherette and velours. The Touring version benefitted from all the dynamic qualities the model was renowned for, offering the perfect combination of light weight, rigidity and power. Weighing around a ton, it could travel from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.3 seconds, which was a superb performance for the start of the 1970s! What also makes the Carrera RS interesting is its rarity. Being a special homologation, only 1,590 examples were produced. Many specialists consider the Carrera RS 2.7 to be the quintessential 911, with the ideal combination of qualities. A car that becomes even more special when in impeccable condition and with transparent history, as with the example we are fortunate to offer here.

I’ve been aware of this car and its history on and off over years. One named PO Richard Colton a known collector had various cars and was famously a generous benefactor to lifeboats by selling some Ferrari 250. 509 is cusp of first to second series RHD RS and Iirc was sold new by Chris Maltin at a point before he was even an official Porsche agent in Henley on Thames — but he did have connections to PCGB at the time to do this. Caught up with it having discussed some of the finer details of the roughly 100 original RHD RS extant with its fairly recent owner — who I shan’t name on open www. We have become friends. Not his now. I also know who is seller but in fairness to his privacy too shan’t share on open www either since neither are named in listing as far as I can see.

Wasn’t actually aware car was being auctioned today (wonder how well was the sale Was publicised as it seems to have only hit the highly attuned ESR network just in time? ). So it’ll be interesting to see what it fetches. In next few mins maybe all will become clear, if it sells ...

But that link is for 1036, not 312. Lot of yellow cars on the market now. Obvious for 312 has been rebodied..the red circle stamping started around number 965 I reckon.

The alu chassis number plate on 1157 is probably original and old but the stamping not correct and missing the important stamp right side of the F that only Italian delivered cars had. Body stamping looks to be correct, engine number rather filed down or even not original. Hard to see. There is more to this car, hazard switch, petrol/oil gauge not 72/73 plus much more.

What is supposed to be the factory finish in the trunk area behind the petrol tank?

I've seen some that have a sealant/primer/grey-black like finish where as some are body coloured?

Also for the fuel tank, I'm seen some in a grey textured underbody seal type finish whereas some look like a matt black plastic like the yellow #1157 above.

What seems to be missing is all the decomposing contact cement --- that held the cheesy carpeting in-place . . .
