Wonder if guages are original as they alongside several other details are sending mixed messages regarding date of production.

Not much in the write up at Sotheby's site too. No VIN and seems the tacho face has been renewed, or complete new tacho.

… I’d expect the write up to be added by auction house later so maybe will become more clear. Interesting mismatched comfort and sport seat. Seen it before selected by first customer an unusual choice but where it was deliberate choice they must have had reason. It was option M410 and around 100 customers specified it at additional cost

Also D headrests but not sure from photos if real leather? Possibly not? I’ve heard it said D shape only used in combination with real leather seats by model year 73 but never seen that documented anywhere official in literature though it does seem empirically to be the case. Headrests were an extra cost option ( not standard) in many markets where RS sold so is the sort of equipment often added later as awareness of safety benefit in event of a rear impact has become more clear. .

RHD EG c16 second series under 23k miles from new.
    https://www.trofeocars.com/1973-porsche-911-carrera-rs

Very familiar with this low-owner low-mileage car having been given private access in the period it was essentially off the radar. Fortunate to be invited to look it over in great detail both on and off ramp by the cars owner and its caretaker. Spent tens of hours — number of private visits over various days during the last six years.

There weren’t many RHD 911.744 Carrera RS. About 100 RS Touring RHD but only about 70 in that RHD (RL) configuration were made the highly important first and second RS series to be lighter-in-weight at the core when in “base” configuration. The ones independently weighed and proven to comply to the 900kg target in the homologation papers — so 980 is one of the chassis counted as the evidence for FiA to achieve the sole goal of the Carrera RS limited edition programme that was personally approved by the CEO.

As explained I’ve been fortunate to be allowed to become familiar with the car over the last six years. However it’s not mine and to be clear I have no commercial or financial involvement in its sale — my observation comments here are informal observations hobbyist not to be construed as a professional formal PPI or similar. Important in any car purchase that prospective buyers do their own research.

One for a knowledgable connoisseur of the 73 RS model an owner who can appreciate it?

There is a reason it — authentic as I understand it — but not appropriate for me to be drawn into explaining but owner / vendor explained it to me.
