Just checking to see if anyone was paying attention in class.

Now; did you or did you not inhale?

1500 RS's, 50 RSR's, do the math ? Never inhale, just second hand smoke. LOL, I still like the logic, not that logic is ever meaningful with collectibles.

No logic. Just emotion and too much money chasing too few goods.

Tip of the hat to the guys who bought their cars when nobody thought any more of them than "just another Porsche". Some proof that their brains (and hearts) were in the right place to begin with. (enthusiast)

I believe there are enthusiasts and collectors. Some enthusiasts are collectors but not all collectors are enthusiasts. The dollar steers that boat.

As a famous BMW restorer once on the cover of Autoweek said "I don't know how they can be worth that much? You can total it and still not do that much damage"

5 years ago, I was offered an RS as a balled-up, burned-out hulk with paperwork. No drivetrain. Supposedly $20-25K. The car did not materialize. (For me, anyway.)

It's likely out there somewhere 'growing parts to complete.'

I'm exactly that enthusiast you describe. The problem- if I even dare call it that- is that the values now are dampening my "enthusiasm" for enjoying the car. I'm still driving it, but more tentatively. And no more track days. I'm having a hard time shifting from 'enthusiast' to 'collector'.

    Jeff,

Enthusiasts aren't afraid to drive their cars on the track.
A collector gets diarrhea even thinking about doing that.

I feel your pain. There's something very wrong when the value of a car goes up so much that we enjoy them less.

    VIN?
R Gruppe RS. The purists are screaming sacrilege over this one.
    What does "very expensive" mean?
