Can someone here decode this serial number for me? Is it a valid number? Chassis number? Any numbers missing?
9122101940
Thanks in advance.

Since there were no '72 912's, maybe check to make sure the VIN was written down correctly.
John Thompson
1966 912. My first car. Bought it Nov. 25, 1988. Still have it.
Norm & John are correct, it is not a valid # as such. Length is correct for a 1970 up VIN, but the only 912 was in the 912600xxxx series.
9112101940 would be correct for a 1972 911T coupe.

type 911/51 from serial 6120001 for manual trans, probably near 6123000
also possible is type 911/61 from serial 6129001 for Sportomatic
You could call PCNA COA dept and ask for the original engine # for the VIN.
What is the original paint code stamped on the badge?

Dave, I don't have the car yet; perhaps in a week or two; still out in Denver. I believe the original color was ivory, but it's now light yellow. The COA will be included with the paperwork. To be Continued![]()
