    concerning the steering wheel I just do know from some sources that they had the 356 type used on some test drives... and is it really a number "8" in the left door falz?

    haul, that last pic on post 305 (found in Brian Longs book) is a mock-up at the design studio. It has no window screen and no wipers. Probably early 1963. Its therefore not mounted in any prototyp car.
    BTW the "hole" far within the dash was discussed before and seems to be a (side window) vent system.

    re steering wheels they used several 356 style types on 901 prototypes, here is a discussion about it:

    Look at the window crank on post 304 ... different to the regular SWB window crank.

    The car used in the road test Car & Driver published in January 1965 had the same 356 style window crank:

    The photo in post 304 and the Car & Driver photo also show rubber floor mars and a rubber gear shift boot while virtually all MY 1965 cars have a leather gear shift boot and wool velour carpets.

    @all
    the pic in#305 is a mock up, this is obvious, as karim states, no windows, no wipers and else.
    as the left number "8" indicated there are seven mock ups /versions before and sure some after which were discussed design wise and of which parts made it then into final production. any knowledge of these before mock ups?

    In the early phase of road tests, it seems that some cars were re-used for testing and so articles documented the same cars, first were used 13xxx prototypes, later early production 901's and then the 911.

    I beleive the January 1965 Car&Driver article was still showing 13325 as tested in April 1964 (the first public road test of any 901) by German magazine ams (Auto Motor & Sport). As Aichele wrote, 13325 was first a show car and later the press car were journalists were invited to drive. It usually had Plate S- TC 1 and one one pic, its Peter Falk driving the yellow car. Falk was assigned to show the car to journalists. Its also possible that in the early stages of this road tests, the factory supplied photos and similar photos were published by different magazines.

    Here is ams of april 1964. Rubber mats, 356 window cranks. As you can see, it looks the interior pic published in April 1964 at ams magazine was still used for Car&Driver in January 1965.

    This is a later R&T test car, article published in March 1965…two months later than the January 1965 Car&Driver test car. While its still a car with German plates it NOW has 911 window cranks but rubber mats and another interior. Its beleived to be 300005 (yes, that car heading currently on display at Rennsport).
