    Hot air hose question

    Its for a 68 s
There is 3 version or the hot air hose in engine bay
    There is the orange rubber
There is a black paper aluminium version
And a brown paper aluminum version

I assume the orange is correct for the exchange to valve location
But what color is right for the fan to exchanger

It should be the brown type.

The originals were usually light tan/brown in the 60s-early 70s then at some point they were a darker brown color. From what I've seen this transition happened around 1975 and the 911SC era cars.

The black paper covered foil hoses were a later version replacing both brown / tan versions; then as the temperatures rose on the later cars they started using the orange silicone hoses.

This data is only for the 50 & 60mm main heater hoses; the smaller hoses used for pre-heat systems like MFI were typically black.

+1...agree entirely that these are the correct hoses as shown in the photos for that vintage

It seems this stuff varied by year and model and what Porsche had on hand at the time

Also I've noticed on many early cars the tan hoses darken over time and exposure to oil and fuel and take on a very dark appearance.

Install what you want, I was just lending some perspective on what I've seen over the last 30 years on these cars.

Just to make sure i got both
Depending on rhe location in the car they do end up slighly different color
I will have a look at the fine texture
All the one i have are furry if you look real close
Will report when i have them
The other indication is one is a 901 number the other is 930 so definitely later

Anybody suspect, as i do, that the "orange" hot air tubes started life a much lighter color? I've seen factory photos both B&W and color showing a bone/off white color of all the hoses on 912s and 911s where orange now appears.
