BaT Description:
This 1970 Porsche 911S was sold new in California and spent time in Texas with the third owner before being acquired by the current owner in April 2015. A bare-metal repaint in the factory Albert Blue was carried out in 2016, and the numbers-matching 2.2-liter flat-six was rebuilt at around the same time by marque specialist Tyson Schmidt. Modifications include 10.3:1 pistons, piston oil squirters, and oil bypass mods by Ollies. According to the included Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the car was equipped from new with Recaro sport seats, power windows, and a Blaupunkt radio. This 911S is now being offered for sale on behalf of the current owner with records beginning in 1973 and a clear California title. After a previous color change to silver, the body was stripped to bare metal and repainted its original shade of Albert Blue (1818) in 2016. The work was performed by John Esposito’s Porsche Repair and reportedly included removing and re-anodizing the window trim and replacing the TTG horn grilles with AFS replicas. Receipts are said to total approximately $35k. A 6-digit California blue plate is mounted out back. An updated side mirror, TTG fog lights, and a non-original steel front bumper cover have been added. 15” Fuchs wheels were refinished and are wrapped in 195/65 Continental tires. Cross-drilled brake rotors were also installed.
Replica Recaro sport seats are trimmed in black leatherette and feature houndstooth inserts, and a set of Coco mats protect the squareweave carpets. Images of the front trunk, body stamping, and factory data plates can be seen. Interior equipment include power windows, a factory Blaupunk stereo, and a stock 4-spoke steering wheel with an aftermarket leather cover. The 49k indicated miles are not believed to be accurate, and approximately 250 miles have been added during the current ownership.
Power comes from an injected 2.2L flat-six paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt in 2016 by Tyson Schmidt of Pro Motorsports after a rod bolt let loose at low rpm. Work included the installation of custom 10.3:1 Arias pistons, 85mm Biral cylinders, a new clutch, a 66mm crankshaft, OE rods, and a replacement left case half. Receipts from the work are said to exceed $21k, and additional records reportedly date to 1973. Stamping #6300078 matches the number listed on the CoA, confirming the engine as original. The included Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the original colors and lists the optional equipment.
