So Bryce, anymore new things found out about your little guy since the last postings of pics,

Have you had any more memorable drives like the picture taking session with the enthusiast in the barn ?

Great story BTW, and pretty cool pictures of the little guy looking around the door, the shot of you and your daughter. It reminds us there is a new generation coming along here in a few years that will be driving and enjoying these wonderful little sports cars. Good memories to be had during the growing up years and " the coming of age " in this midst of sports car love..............
    Best Regards,

    Farrell,
I've ruled the mail man out. Let's just say he's not blonde and blue eyed ...

    Mr. GJ,

Nothing new to report on the car. Weather is getting oppressively hot so I haven't been out in it much beyond the occasional pre-dawn neighborhood exercise.

Lots of small tinkering repairs and such like cleaning the gauges (got rid of the 43 year old haze), fixing small oil leaks, etc. It seems to be running better and better the more it gets driven.

With some ownership time under the belt now, one of these hot days I'll probably sit down and reread the files on the car to see if anything interesting pops up.

Or sort through the parts stash... I have boxes of NOS stuff

I love it when the magic catches hold and then someone tries to sincerely capture it in words, or pictures, or song, or.....
Doesn't need to be something big, or perfect,
kinda like a dog walking on two legs - it may not be a thing of beauty but it is remarkable that it can be done at all.

    - There must be a word for it...

Thanks Raj - and also for bumping that wonderful pic.

I agree, John. I don't have a word for it either but I know what it is.

Raj - I haven't seen many posts from you lately and then that early riser (or maybe overseas?) reflection. Thanks for the comments. I enjoyed reading them and share some of the same feelings.

Without waxing too sentimental, old cars offer a glimpse into lives lived and are a constant reminder of where we come from. While my S was the lifelong companion of an old friend, the car bug was definitely in my DNA.

I lost my best car buddy, my father, at far too young an age, and there's not an afternoon in my garage, a ride in the 911, or a day at the track where I don't think about him.

While it's easy to focus on the cars themselves, it's these memorable connections with others that make owning them special.

IMO, some of the better individual car threads on this board attempt to do this--marry the parts and fixes with people and experience:

I like Rick's keeping us abreast of his ownership journey and his most recent quest to find the previous owners of his 70S.

I also enjoy the restoration of the astronaut's 72S.

Just avoid the temptation to sell it when she turns 18 and you need to put her through Harvard. By then your beautiful car will be worth at least as much as 4 years of tuition and board in the Ivy Leagues.

    Enjoy every minute of it.
